The IEA is delighted to alert our members (and the public) to a free event on Tuesday, 15 June entitled:  ‘Brexit, UK and Ireland‘.

This event is hosted by our colleagues in the UK’s Royal Economic Association and features our own Irish Economic Association (IEA) board member Martina Lawless (of the ESRI). Martina also recently spoke at the IEA Annual Conference (6-7 May 2021) on Brexit at a lunchtime panel discussion (video of that discussion is available on the conference page of our site).

Details of this event are below.

RES Presents 2021: Brexit, UK and Ireland

Free online event, Tuesday 15th June, 16.30-17.45

The Royal Economic Society invites members of the public to its free event on ‘Brexit, UK and Ireland.’ The event will focus on the challenges facing the economies of Ireland, both Northern Ireland as well as the Republic.

What economics challenges face Ireland and how can economists help solve them? In this event, a range of distinguished speakers from both side of the border, and inside and outside of academia, will discuss these challenges by giving a short presentation of their initial thoughts and then taking questions and taking part in the discussion that develops.  A view from both sides, delivered by:

  • Esmond Birnie, Ulster University
  • Stuart Anderson, CBI NI
  • Martina Lawless, ESRI
  • Stephen Kinsella, University of Limerick
