A New Forum for Economic Policy in Ireland: The Policy Section of the ESR

The Economic and Social Review has, for almost 40 years, been Ireland's leading academic journal for Economics and related disciplines in the social sciences. Starting this year the Review will have a new policy paper section, which will feature articles of current policy relevance, written by acknowledged experts. The Review will in future be published quarterly.

The Irish Economic Association will provide financial support for this development. Never has the need for timely and well-researched contributions to the economic policy debate been so urgent as at present. To finance this initiative the IEA has increased its subscription rates for the first time in several years. Out thanks go to all who have supported us in this.

For those who wish to become members of the IEA on an individual basis, the membership form can be downloaded here. The individual membership subscription now includes a subscription to the Economic and Social Review.

The Summer 2009 issue of the ESR (Vol 40, No 2) is now available. The new policy paper section has two contributions which have been revised to reflect developments up to May 2009: Resolving Ireland's Banking Crisis (Patrick Honohan, TCD) and A New Fiscal Strategy for Ireland (Philip R Lane, TCD).
