Launch of Trinity IMpact Evaluation Unit (TIME)

The Department of Economics, Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with the Trinity International Development Initiative will launch a new research group called the Trinity Impact Evaluation Unit (TIME) on Monday September 21st at 6.30 in the Neill Lecture Theatre of the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. We are delighted to welcome Mr Michael Gaffey, the Director General of Irish Aid to officially launch TIME, and Professor Oriana Bandiera from the London School of Economics to give a keynote lecture.

Conniffe Prize Winner 2015

Congratulations to Michael Curran (TCD) on winning the Conniffe  prize for the best paper by a young economist at the 2015 Irish Economic Association Annual Meeting. Michael received the prize for his paper titled “Interest Rate Volatility and Macroeconomic Dynamics” .

Novartis Prize Winner 2015

Congratulations to Orla Doyle (UCD) on winning the Novartis prize for the best paper in Health Economics at the 2015 Irish Economic Association annual Meeting. Orla received the prize for her paper (with N. Fitzpatrick, J. Lovett and C. Rawdon) titled “Early Intervention and Childhood Health: Evidence from a Dublin based Trial” .

The ESR guest lecture will be given by Professor Christopher Udry(Yale University) and the Edgeworth Lecture by Professor Giancarlo Corsetti (University of Cambridge).

The programme for the conference has been completed and those who submitted papers are currently being informed of the status of their submission. A full programme will be available soon on this site.

Professor Mardi Dungey appointed Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting Maynooth University

Professor Mardi Dungey, Professor of Economics and Finance and  Associate Dean of Research at the University of Tasmania, has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics, Finance & Accounting at Maynooth University from January 2015 for a three year term.  Mardi’s research interests combine the empirical sides of finance and economics, particulary in her interests in the effects of financial crises on open economies and policy assessment. She is responsible for developments in modelling frameworks for open economies and for applications to Australian and other economies. Mardi is an expert in contagion effects during financial crises and has a recent book on modelling contagion published by OUP. You can read more about Mardi’s work here.

IEA ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2015

The 29th Annual Irish Economic Association Conference will be held at the Institute of Banking, IFSC, 1 North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 on Thursday May 7th and Friday May 8th, 2015. Edgar Morgenroth (Economic and Social Research Institute) is the local organizer (edgar.morgenroth@esri.ie).

The Association invites submissions of papers to be considered for the conference programme. Papers may be on any area in Economics, Finance and Econometrics.

The deadline for submitted articles is the 8th of February 2015 and submissions can be made through this site.

Registration Cancellation
Written cancellation of registration received on or before Friday 30 April 2014 will be refunded less a €40 administration fee. After this date the full amount of the invoice has to be paid. Requests for refund will not be accepted; however, registration may be transferred to another member of your organisation. In this case, please send an email to the Conference Secretariat.
