Secondary School Winners at the IEA conference

The winners of the 2018 young economists of the year (a competition for secondary school students) were present at the recent Irish Economic Association Meetings.  The winners had their photos taken with Olivier Blanchard.

Congratulations to Alejandra Ramos  (TCD) on winning the Conniffe  prize for the best paper by a young economist at the 2018 Irish Economic Association Annual Meetings.  Alejandra  received the prize for her paper titled “Household Decision Making with Violence: Implications for Transfer Programs”.

Congratulations to  Benjamin Elsner (UCD) and Florin Wozny (IZA) on winning the Novartis prize for the best paper in Health Economics at the 2018 Irish Economic Association annual meeting. The winning paper was titled  ” The human capital cost of radiation: Long run evidence from exposure outside the womb”

32nd Annual Irish Economic Association Conference 2018

The annual Irish Economic Association Conference will be held at the Central Bank of Ireland, New Wapping Street, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 on Thursday May 10th and Friday May 11th, 2018. The local organizer is the Central Bank. (email:  ieaconference2018@centralbank.ie)

The ESR guest lecture will be given by Professor Wendy Carlin (University College London and the CORE project) and the Edgeworth Lecture by Professor Olivier Blanchard (MIT and PIIE).

The Association invites submissions of papers to be considered for the conference programme. Papers may be on any area in Economics, Finance and Econometrics.

Congratulations to Andrea Guariso (Trinity College Dublin), Martina Björkman Nyqvist (Stockholm School of Economics), Jakob Svensson (Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES), Stockholm University), and David Yanagizawa-Drott (University of Zurich)  on winning the Novartis prize for the best paper in Health Economics at the 2017 Irish Economic Association annual Meeting. The winning paper was titled  “Reducing Child Mortality in the Last Mile: A Randomized Social Entrepreneurship Intervention in Uganda .”
